Politectual
Are you a politectual?
I would like to consider myself a politectual. Politectual, a form of an intellectual, one who can discuss many issues including such topics as:
Foreign policy, Abortion rights, Gay rights, Women's rights, Immigration, Taxes, Healthcare, Medicare, State issues, Education, Welfare, War, Nafta & the WTO, Treaties, Elections, Historical refrences in regard to government, Civil rights, Labor issues, Constitutional rights, Democracy, Capitalism, Socialism, Communism and many more subject areas. Simply put, these are political issues of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
It is my belief that in order to truly understand these issues one must learn from others opinions just as some of us debated on highschool teams, at local coffeeshops, on the web, in the press, and in friendly circles.
To me, there is nothing better than a circle of friends relishing over good political issues. This consists of hundreds of topics, as stated above.
This brings me to the topic at hand. I appreciate choices that people make in what they want to discuss, however I would hope that politics could be a necessary part of one's life. Why there are some people who are unwilling to participate in friendly political talk will always be of interest to me. Is it a fear or inability to be able to converse without the knowledge of the issue at hand? I wish I knew the answer. I rarely bump into people who are unwilling but there are some out there, few I realize, but there are. Are they afraid one might judge their opinions or think of them differently for this should never be the intention of a good conversation in politics.

A true sign of an aspiring intellectual is the courage to converse on all issues and matters, thus broadening their minds with priceless knowledge.
